Due to the COVID-19 situation, this course has been cancelled.

The City of Rossland is hosting the High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development course for anyone that works with school aged children (ages 6-12).   The course will be held at the Warfield Hall on Saturday March 21st from 8-4:30.

“This one-day training will help front-line leaders ([…]i.e. camp counsellor, coaches, swim instructors, [child care workers etc.]) improve the quality of programs. It provides in depth training in the HIGH FIVE Principles of healthy child development so front-line leaders understand what they need to do to ensure each child’s social, emotional and cognitive needs are met. Leaders learn activities and gain knowledge, tips and resources to enhance their programs as well as their relationships with children and other staff members. Topics also include bullying, conflict resolution, physical literacy, children’s mental health and moderate to vigorous physical activity.

This training has been tailored to meet the unique needs of a variety of different program types, including aquatics, arts, dance and those serving Indigenous children” (Rossland Recreation, Facebook Page).
