Strong start program
This program, for French-speaking children aged 0 to 5, is offered from September to June.
The Franc Départ program is a provincial initiative of the Ministry of Education, implemented by the Conseil scolaire francophone. Its mission is to welcome children aged between 0 and 5 years old free of charge , accompanied by an adult (parent or other person responsible for the child), and to invite them to participate in a variety of activities in French. .
We thank the government of British Columbia, and more specifically the Ministry of Education, for its financial contribution.
Examples of activities:
Animated activity: Activities planned by the educator that promote learning about group life while involving families.
The circle: Young and old come together to sing, dance, tell and listen to stories and take part in games.
The period of free games: Parents and children have the opportunity to discover many educational games together.
A learning environment where:
- The parent is recognized as the first educator of his child.
- French is alive, promoting the child’s learning in a lively and stimulating French-speaking environment.
- The game is privileged, the child and the adult explore together while discovering each other. Children’s entry into kindergarten is facilitated through early learning activities in reading and writing.
- Each family is unique and contributes to the enrichment of the program while giving the chance to develop a social network, thus breaking the isolation.
- Parents and children can familiarize themselves with the school environment and get to know the school staff while learning about the services offered in French in the community.
