Camp Create

This one is for the creatives! Whether your passion lives in colours and beauty or in the boldly buildable, this camp has something for all creative Kootenay kids. With Makers’ Mornings and Artists’ Afternoons, participants will find fun in activities ranging from painting to engineering and everything in between.

Eco Adventurers

July 22nd – July 26th | August 19th – August 23rd

With a blend of adventure and ecology, this camp is sure to keep the attention of nature nuts and thrill-seekers alike. Whether it’s investigating animal tracks, exploring Flux Climbing, or anything in between, our Eco Adventurers will live up to their name.

Super Sleuths

August 12th – August 16th:

Rosslanders are no strangers to digging, but this camp puts a whole new spin on what we can uncover when we delve into the history of this vibrant mining town. Become a museum detective for the week to learn all the super-sleuthing skills – and you may even solve a robbery!

Junior Shredders & Engineers

July 29th – August 2nd | August 26th – August 30th

Our Junior Shredders & Engineers will enjoy bike-themed engineering and creative activities, explore how to care for their equipment and the trails, and learn technical biking skills with the fantastic coaches from Kootenay Mountain Biking!

PLEASE NOTE Our Junior Shredders & Engineers camps, which we hold in partnership with Kootenay Mountain Biking, has a different format and cost structure from the other Camp Black Bear themes. In response to feedback from previous years and to reflect the increase in costs incurred by the Museum, the Junior Shredders & Engineers camps will still be a blend of a biking skills camp (3 days) and museum day camp (2 days); however, the camps will have increased skills development and will not have a membership discount available but a flat rate of $280/camper. 12 spaces are available in each camp, with 6 spaces reserved for novice riders and 6 spaces reserved for intermediate riders. The Monday and Wednesday of each camp will be museum days (not on bikes), while the Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be on bike with Kootenay Mountain Biking. Days on bike will include mornings as a full group of 12 and afternoons in skill level groups (6 per group).

We’re a designated national historic event site for the Kootenay Mining Region, so we’re going to celebrate. The Museum will be open by donation all week, 10 am to 6 pm July 10-17. Haven’t gone on one of our guided tours yet? Now’s your chance! We offer guided historical tours of the outdoor exhibits at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm daily through the summer – and on Fridays and Saturdays, the Gold Fever Follies will be on site to add some pizza to the 11 am tour.

We’re also having a photo contest to celebrate! Submit your pictures – old or new – of the Rossland Museum by email to info@ rosslandmuseum.ca. We’ll be posting our favourites on social media. The top contestants will win a free Museum membership!

What is it?

We’re a designated national historic event site for the Kootenay Mining Region, so we’re going to celebrate. The Museum will be open by donation all week, 10 am to 6 pm July 10-17. Haven’t gone on one of our guided tours yet? Now’s your chance! We offer guided historical tours of the outdoor exhibits at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm daily through the summer – and on Fridays and Saturdays, the Gold Fever Follies will be on site to add some pizza to the 11 am tour.

We’re also having a photo contest to celebrate! Submit your pictures – old or new – of the Rossland Museum by email to info@ rosslandmuseum.ca. We’ll be posting our favourites on social media. The top contestants will win a free Museum membership!

Our Junior Shredders & Engineers will enjoy bike-themed engineering and creative activities, explore how to care for their equipment and the trails, and learn technical biking skills with the fantastic coaches from Kootenay Mountain Biking!

PLEASE NOTE Our Junior Shredders & Engineers camps, which we hold in partnership with Kootenay Mountain Biking, has a different format and cost structure from the other Camp Black Bear themes. In response to feedback from previous years and to reflect the increase in costs incurred by the Museum, the Junior Shredders & Engineers camps will still be a blend of a biking skills camp (3 days) and museum day camp (2 days); however, the camps will have increased skills development and will not have a membership discount available but a flat rate of $280/camper. 12 spaces are available in each camp, with 6 spaces reserved for novice riders and 6 spaces reserved for intermediate riders. Our Junior Shredders & Engineers will enjoy bike-themed engineering and creative activities, explore how to care for their equipment and the trails, and learn technical biking skills with the fantastic coaches from Kootenay Mountain Biking!

PLEASE NOTE Our Junior Shredders & Engineers camps, which we hold in partnership with Kootenay Mountain Biking, has a different format and cost structure from the other Camp Black Bear themes. In response to feedback from previous years and to reflect the increase in costs incurred by the Museum, the Junior Shredders & Engineers camps will still be a blend of a biking skills camp (3 days) and museum day camp (2 days); however, the camps will have increased skills development and will not have a membership discount available but a flat rate of $280/camper. 12 spaces are available in each camp, with 6 spaces reserved for novice riders and 6 spaces reserved for intermediate riders. Rosslanders are no strangers to digging, but this camp puts a whole new spin on what we can uncover when we delve into the history of this vibrant mining town. Become a museum detective for the week to learn all the super-sleuthing skills – and you may even solve a robbery!

Junior Shredders & Engineers

July 29th – August 2nd | August 26th – August 30th

Our Junior Shredders & Engineers will enjoy bike-themed engineering and creative activities, explore how to care for their equipment and the trails, and learn technical biking skills with the fantastic coaches from Kootenay Mountain Biking!

PLEASE NOTE Our Junior Shredders & Engineers camps, which we hold in partnership with Kootenay Mountain Biking, has a different format and cost structure from the other Camp Black Bear themes. In response to feedback from previous years and to reflect the increase in costs incurred by the Museum, the Junior Shredders & Engineers camps will still be a blend of a biking skills camp (3 days) and museum day camp (2 days); however, the camps will have increased skills development and will not have a membership discount available but a flat rate of $280/camper. 12 spaces are available in each camp, with 6 spaces reserved for novice riders and 6 spaces reserved for intermediate riders. The Monday and Wednesday of each camp will be museum days (not on bikes), while the Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday will be on bike with Kootenay Mountain Biking. Who: 5 to 10 – Kids must be turning six by December 2024 and have been in Kindergarten this past school year.

Cost:

5-day = $220/week (10% discount for members)

4-day = $176 (10% discount for members)

Junior Shredders & Engineers 5-day = $280;

*NO MEMBER DISCOUNT FOR JUNIOR SHREDDERS & ENGINEERS*

Time: 9 am – 4 pm (8:30-9 drop off; 4-4:30 pick-up)

Maximum of 16 kids/week, 12 kids/week for Junior Shredders & Engineers

Must bring two snacks, a lunch (no peanuts), water bottle, sun protection, outdoor clothing, and backpack; special equipment required for some weeks (e.g. Bike Skills, Hikes), but if this is of any concern, let us know!
